Applicants Sought for Cacancy on Subcommittee
The School District of Collier County is asking for your help. The district is looking for individuals who are interested in filling a vacancy on the School Board Operations Subcommittee. A member, originally appointed to serve a two-year term in October of 2008, is resigning effective immediately.
The Operations Subcommittee deals with topics such as budget planning, capital (building) projects, transportation, or maintenance as examples. Persons with an interest in these topics are invited to apply, especially parents and community members with a background in business. The subcommittees give the school district administration an opportunity to bring forward issues and initiatives for community dialog prior to being considered by the School Board.
To access an online application, visit the “What’s New?” section of the home page of the District Web site at www.collierschools.com. Applications are also available in the district’s Communications Services Department in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Administrative Center at 5775 Osceola Trail in Naples (behind Barron Collier High School). The deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010. The School Board will appoint someone to fill the Operations Subcommittee vacancy during the February 18, 2010, Regular School Board Meeting. The appointee’s term of office will begin with the February 23, 2010, Operations Subcommittee meeting and end with the September 28, 2010, meeting.
Applicants must be full-time residents of Collier County. The operations subcommittee meets once a month, and meetings are held “in the Sunshine” in keeping with Florida’s Government-in-the-Sunshine law. All meetings are televised on The Education Channel, cable 99.
